FUEL CELL FAQ:

Q:  I have a [fill in the blank] vehicle.  Do I need the old Fuel Cell or the new double cell?

Once the older unites have all been shipped, new orders will be filled with the newer double cell.  If you have a 4 cylinder engine, only use one side of the cell.  If you have a large V-8, use both sides.  If you have a 6 cylinder that falls in the middle, you can use both cells, but use less caustic to achieve about a 20 amp reading.

QWhere do you suggest we hook up the hose from the Fuel Cell?

If you have an incoming air box that holds the filter I personally like to install it low on the air box with the fitting before the air filter.  That way if you do get moisture after the dryer the air filter will absorb it!

Q:  After I pour the caustic into the Fuel Cell my amp gauge reads about 6 amps.  My Fuel Cell must not be working properly.  What do you think?

You should not be using the amp gauge supplied with some of the earlier kits to measure the amps for the Fuel Cell.  It is necessary to get a hand help amp meter to measure the amps correctly.  The amp meter in the kit was only there for a rule of thumb to keep an eye on the Fuel Cell.  It is causing so many problems we have eliminated it and the switch from the kit and replacing them with a 20 amp illuminated switch.  That way if the light in the switch is on the fuel cell is working.  You will just have to check the water in it and measure with a clamp on meter!  Be aware that when you first power up the Fuel Cell, you won’t be reading maximum amperage.  Allow at least 20 minutes, preferably a half-hour before taking your readings.  As the Fuel Cell runs, it builds heat.  As it builds heat, it draws more amps.  As it draws more amps, it outputs more Water Gas.

Q: How do I mix the caustic?

In a glass container such as a glass measuring cup, mix 2 ½ full cups of distilled water with 2 ½ level tablespoons of caustic (one tablespoon per cup).  Be sure to use a MEASURING SPOON (very cheap at a food store).  Add caustic one tablespoon at a time.  Mix, let cool, then add the next tablespoon until you have added the 2 ½ tablespoons.  Let mixture settle until the measuring cup is cool to the touch before pouring the mixture into the Fuel Cell!  This should fill the Fuel Cell perfectly, both the early single cells and the newer double cells.  If you have any left you can pour it in your sink drain with water running full stream.  This is the same caustic used in drain cleaner.  Be sure to wear eye and skin protection while handling the caustic.

Q:  The switch is only rated at 10 amps, since we are expecting 15 amps to the Fuel Cell is this switch heavy enough?

The switch is only used to activate the relay.  The relay carries the current going to the Fuel Cell, the switch only carries enough current to power the relay.
